Cameron Nelson has spent the last twenty years traveling to the different Hawaiian Islands. His passion for photography and adventure has taken him on many different hikes and locations throughout the islands. Some of the places of interest include: The Napali Coast on the North Shore of Kauai, the Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu, the Bamboo Forest in Hana, Maui, Volcano National Park on the Big Island of Hawai'i, and the unforgettable experience of swimming with wild spinner dolphins at Manele Bay, Lanai.
Cameron now lives on the magical island of Maui which offers endless opportunities for capturing the beauty of nature. Cameron firmly believes in preserving our precious Mother Earth. His connection to the Hawaiian Islands and traditions of malama ka 'aina (caring for the land) and Ho-oponopono (making things right) illustrate his intent to recognize Earth's beauty and preserve its resources.
Through the art of photography and the five elements of Chinese Philosophy, Cameron combines visual and physical elements together;. These five elements represent the creation and destruction of our planet forming a cycle of balance. This cycle of interaction between the different elements is described as: Wood feeds Fire, Fire creates Earth, Earth bears Metal, Metal carries Water, and Water nourishes Wood.
From 2003 through 2006, Cameron was the official water photographer for the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing on the world famous North Shore of Oahu. This gave him an amazing opportunity to photograph the world's best surfers on some of Hawaii's most incredible waves. In 2004 Cameron has the opportunity to paddle out and take water photos during the famous Eddie Aikau contest at Waimea Bay, Oahu. In 2016 Cameron paddled out to water photos of the first ever Red Bull Big Wave Challenge at Jaws, Maui. His work has been published in Sports Illustrated, Hana Hou Magazine, CNN, Surfing Magazine, Surfline and many other national and international publications.
COTTON PRINTS ON WOOD
These fine art prints are all handmade on Maui by Cameron Nelson. Incorporating the highest level of quality and creativity, Cameron developed this unique art medium to be like no other. Each image is made from a 16 bit TIFF file to ensure the highest level of resolution and color. Then it is printed on Canon's premium fine art cotton inkjet paper using Canon's twelve color inkjet professional printer. Then the print is sprayed with a UV protective coating that locks in the inks and blocks sunlight and moisture. Cotton prints include a "float mount hanger" on the back, so the print floats 3/4-inch off your wall. Ready to hang or add frame of your choice.
